ISTD June 2017 - Burgess Hill
Another FANTASTIC competition day for CDS who attended their 3rd ISTD qualifier this season. 15 Adults and 12 Children from of our competition team were present today, with some missing, due to half term. It was a lovely sunny day with a great positive spirit. We were most pleased with the quality our students performance and this showed with of our pupils achieving most finals, and coming away with more qualifications for the end of the year ISTD Grand Finals in Blackpool 2017.
Out of the 8 couples events entered, CDS won 5, placing 2nd in two, and 3rd in one and 5th in another. Congratulations to the all couples who participated: Starting with the children, Austin & Maria in their first ever couples competition winning the under 8yrs Cha Cha, out of 10 couples, and coming 2nd in the Waltz. It must be mentioned that this was Austins first ever competition and both are only 6 years old. Fantastic first outing Austin!! Also placing 1st was Olivia & Mia, out of 28 couples in the Juvenile up to Bronze Quickstep, with Enrique and Paulina winning the Latin counterpart and also coming 3rd in the Quickstep out of 10 couples
In the Adult Couples events congratulations to Rod & Jane winning both Over 40s events with approx twenty two couples entered. And finally to Matt & Julie who placed 2nd in the Under 40's Tango, and 5th in the Rumba out of approx 12 couples.
The Children solo Ballroom & Latin event entries were enormous with up to 24 entries per event. Congratulations to all our finalists who qualified for the ISTD finals coming up in November 2017and to our semi-finalist who made an honourable round considering the numbers. Special mention to both, Hope who not only qualified but came first in Juvenile Primary SDT Rumba, and to Isidora achieving first place in Junior SDT Cha Cha.
The Adult solo Ballroom & Latin out of 30 events entered CDS made 23 finals out of 30 entries. That is truly terrific, and special congratulations to Jane, Rod, Katherine, Julie, and Ashley for winning their solo events and to all the finalist and their newly acquired qualifications, and semi finalists for a great showing, some for their very first time competing with CDS.
We just want to thank Julie Allen of Hove Dance Centre for inviting CDS to join this qualification event on behalf of the ISTD in conjunction with Nick Miles and his very efficient team. The venue was superb, and so easy to get to for us, and we hope to see you all again next year.
